here are a lot of reviews of this product, so let me impart the “Gravy” if you will.
1. The motion sensor works and has not had any false alarms ONCE we adjusted the sensitivity. At its least sensitive setting, the unit would alarm. Since adjusting to the “mid level” we have not had a single false alarm… However, if you pick up your kiddo in the middle of the night to change a full diaper, turn the unit off first or you’ll wake up your sleeping spouse with the ALARM!
2. The sensing unit works fine in a crib without the masonite board. In the basonette, we used two towels on either side to “level” things out. The sensor still worked fine and the thin mattress pad was level.
3. The alarm is loud and will wake you up. Good.
4. The monitor microphone is sensitive and you can hear every little grunt, so we turn the volume down a little at night. A cry will be loud, grunts are not.
5. Our Uniden 5.4gHz phones do NOT interfere with the unit and it does not affect my wireless network.

Peace of Mind, August 31, 2009
I am a grandma who babysits my grand-daughter regularly. The baby monitors that detect sound are better than nothing, but I needed to know the baby was breathing. I lost a lot of sleep when my kids were little and I was not able to sleep when my grand-daughter stayed the night. This product does what it advertises and means that I don’t have to go down and check the baby every 15 minutes to make sure she is still breathing. It took some getting used to (I just have to look at the little metronome to see that movement is detected…she’s breathing), but my stress level has gone down and I can sleep when the baby sleeps over. There have been no false alarms, its easy to set up, and I like the fact that the unit can be recharged-the sound unit I had was using batteries like crazy-and a charge on the unit lasts over 24 hours. The cost is a little high compared to the sound only units, but it is worth its weight in gold as far as I am concerned. It will be the monitor I will recommend to anyone who asks and will probably be my shower present from now on.

Worth it for great audio quality + effective movement sensor, August 27, 2009
Compared to the Philips DECT-type monitor we got for our first child, this monitor is worth the cost for the audio quality alone– but the very effective movement monitor provides a great peace of mind, especially in those first few weeks.
Leaving this monitor on but with the baby out of the bedroom after six weeks allows us to get some rest and not worry at the same time. Recommended.
The Philips monitor is not, by the way. (annoying ‘clicking-on’ sound when going from silence to noise transmission is distracting). The Graco monitor is great.
